Sue Lockwood’s poems have appeared in Island, Meanjin, Heat, Antipodes and other journals and anthologies.
In 2006 she received an Australian Council grant as an emerging writer. She has won or been commended in many prizes, including Bridport, Fish, ACU, Gwen Harwood, and Liquid Amber Prizes. Sue’s debut collection, THE FLOWERING DARK, was published by 5 Islands Press in 2024.
Sue lives in Eltham, a ‘green-wedge’ of Melbourne, on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people, where she writes, and walks by the Yarra river. She moved into the area when she was three and has lived there most of her life. For many years, Sue taught creative writing around Melbourne and was a founding member of a local writer’s group.
